Raiders Set for Mock Trial Competition

GALLIPOLIS — River Valley Mock Trial students are getting ready for competition. Juniors and seniors from River Valley met in the Gallia County Courthouse Tuesday evening to rehearse for the upcoming trial.

PD Opportunity for High School Civics Teachers

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio will hold a Teachers Institute for high school teachers on July 28, 2017. It will be held at the Joseph P. Kinneary U.S. Courthouse in Columbus, 85 Marconi Boulevard 43215. Chief United States District Court Judge Edmund A. Sargus, Jr. and Magistrate Judge Michael J. Newman will host the event.

Teams Make a Good Case for Advancement

A police officer shoots a man who points a toy bow and arrow at him -- was the officer justified in using deadly force? That question kicked off the 2016 Ohio Mock Trial district competitions Jan. 29, during which Worthington Kilbourne and Thomas Worthington high school students argued as prosecutors or defense attorneys or served as witnesses, scoring high enough to advance to the Feb. 19 regional contests.
